The city wants to promote public transportation, bicycles and walking; however, it is possible to park your car in specific areas. To get around and park with your car rental in Grenoble, you must first take note of the different "green", "orange" and "violet" areas. The "green" zones are long-term and paid parking from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 19:00 every day except Sundays and public holidays. The "orange" and "violet" zones are paid all day long, half price from 12:00 to 14:00 and for a short period (two hours maximum). Please note that the first 20 minutes are free once a day and per vehicle. You can also park your vehicle at the train station and Vaucanson car parks, which are accessible 24 hours a day.
