How old do you have to be to hire a car?
The short answer
- Minimum age: All drivers must be 21 years of age or older
- 25 years or older for all vehicle classes
The long answer
All drivers must be at least 21 years old to hire a car. When hiring a car between the ages of 21 and 24, you are able to hire a vehicle from certain vehicle classes, including: Compact to standard, five-seater minivan, small off-road vehicle/SUV (medium and standard), and van. Customers 25 years of age and older may car hire vehicles from any vehicle class.
