Can I pay for someone else's car hire in the United States?
No. The individual hiring the vehicle must be present to sign the car rental agreement and must provide their credit card at the time of pick up. They cannot provide a credit or debit card belonging to someone else for payment of their car hire reservation.
If an individual wishes to pay for the car hire vehicle, but have someone else drive it, they can hire the vehicle in their name and add someone else as an additional driver. To be added as an additional driver, the individual must meet United States' additional driver requirements.
