Car rental at Lyon Airport

Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport, which also has a TGV (high-speed train) station, is about 15 miles east of Lyon. Although several bus routes link it to the city centre, a rental car is the quickest way to reach the "capital of the Gauls" or any other destination in the area. You will find the Enterprise branch with the other rental branches, outside the airport in a location served by a direct shuttle bus (every 15 minutes). The branch is open daily: 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. Outside of these hours, you can return your car keys using a dedicated post box.

What is there to do in Lyon?

Although public transport is good and it's easy to get around Vieux Lyon or to the Basilique de Fourvière, Place Bellecour or the Croix-Rousse district, renting a car in Lyon lets you fully enjoy the city and make the most of its surrounding areas. For example, you can easily reach the Parc de la Tête d'Or to the north of the city and the 2200-hectare Grand Parc Miribel Jonage for some great family days out. A car means you can also visit the vineyards of the Beaujolais and Azergues valleys, or set off to discover the charming villages in the beautiful natural surroundings to the west and north of the city. In winter, you can even enjoy a ski break less than an hour away.

What is driving in Lyon like?

Despite its size, traffic flows freely in Lyon, thanks in particular to the Fourvière tunnel, motorways and ring roads, which mean you don't have to drive straight across the city. Our optional GPS systems guarantee you won't get lost and can direct you to one of the city's 50 car parks, in addition to the metered street parking which has two different rate zones. A little detail for lovers of contemporary architecture: the Lyon Parc Auto and Célestins car parks are remarkable, with the latter even having been awarded a prize by the European Parking Association in 1996.
